One day trip to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls – Activity

CAS Reflection – Bhavar Kada Waterfalls Trek (25th July 2025)

Location: Bhavar Kada Waterfalls, DangType of CAS Experience: Activity

Learning Outcome 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

Being a part of the Bhavar Kada Waterfalls Trek was a one time experience during my school life. During the 4-hour trek, we encountered unexpected rainfalls, slippery roads and a lot of stressful moments, when we don’t know that we are about to fall. All these situations put us in a state to challenge our endurance, grip and strength and mental capacity to put ourselves together to complete the trek.

During the trek, I realised that there are a few strengths that I possessed. This includes having good endurance, helping me to maintain my speed throughout the trek, which as a result made me reach at the waterfall quicker. Another strength was my mental capacity, even though I was not ready for a challenge physically, I would be ready for it mentally, prepared to face what was coming next. This helped me to respond to the challenge effectively and continue with the trek. Since I am not an expert in trekking, I do have some areas of improvement and growth, this mainly includes trekking with the rain, it was raining, making it difficult to see and walk.

Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

Since this was a adventures activity it comes with a lot of challenges. The first challenge was maintaining my balance, it was one of the most difficult thing that I had to do. Since it was raining, it was really muddy and slippery, making it really difficult to keep balance and have proper placements on the rocks and mud, each and every step mattered, we were not sure if we would fall or not, because of this I even slipped 2 to 3 times, but after every slip, I learned a new technique not to, and this developed my grip. This new growth will help me in all the other treks I will do in the future.

Beyond developing physical skills, there were some soft skills that were also developed by me, which included teamwork, collaboration, and strategic planning to trek. I helped people to jump long leaps, prevent them from slipping and more. This means I developed the key skill of collaboration with peers which will help me throughout my life.

Learning Outcome 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Throughout the trek I was really committed to reach the final destination, the waterfall. I showed my commitment in many different ways. For example during any explanation, I would listen to what the instructor would say very keenly, make sure to know each and every detail. Also, between the trek, the instructor would stop us and show different insects and worms, I listened to all this information properly because of my deep interest in adventurous activities. As mentioned above, I was super committed to the trek with my whole heart, no matter how rainy it was, how prone I was to slipping or how disgusted I was looking at the worms. I wholeheartedly enjoyed the experience.
