Introduction: During our school’s Garba Fest, our group set up a lemon soda stall where we sold drinks to students and teachers. The event was lively and crowded, with many people coming to celebrate. All the money we earned was donated to the school for charitable purposes. This experience helped us understand the value of teamwork, basic financial management, and contributing to a good cause through small but meaningful actions.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth: Through this activity, I discovered that I am confident in communicating with people and persuading them to engage with our stall. I enjoyed interacting with customers and promoting our drinks. However, I realized that I need to improve my organizational skills, especially during busy periods when orders increased rapidly. I also worked on managing time more effectively to reduce waiting time for customers. This experience helped me identify areas for improvement in planning and multitasking.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process: The most difficult part was handling large crowds during peak times, especially during event breaks when many customers arrived at once. We had to prepare drinks quickly while maintaining cleanliness and order. Although it was exhausting, it taught me how to remain calm and focused under pressure. I also developed skills such as handling money responsibly, distributing tasks efficiently within the team, and maintaining hygiene standards while serving.
LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences: Despite the physical strain and hot weather, I remained dedicated throughout the event. We began early to prepare the stall and stayed until the end to serve everyone. Even when I felt tired, I continued working because I wanted our efforts to contribute meaningfully and maximize the funds raised for donation. This experience reinforced the importance of consistency and dedication in service activities.
LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: Collaboration was essential to the success of our stall. Each team member had a specific role, such as preparing drinks, managing money, or serving customers. Constant coordination ensured smooth functioning. Working together made tasks easier and more enjoyable. I learned that teamwork improves efficiency and reduces pressure when everyone supports each other.
LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions: We ensured that our stall operated ethically by maintaining cleanliness, minimizing waste, and disposing of garbage responsibly using separate bins. We priced our drinks fairly so that they were accessible to everyone. Most importantly, we chose to donate all our earnings to charity rather than keeping any profit. This highlighted the importance of acting responsibly and using our efforts to make a positive impact.
Conclusion: The Garba Fest Lemon Soda Stall was not just an enjoyable school event but also a valuable learning experience. It taught me responsibility, teamwork, and empathy. I gained practical skills in communication and handling real-life situations while staying committed to a meaningful cause. Knowing that our work contributed to charity made the experience truly fulfilling.
