Cas Experience Reflection – Bhavarkada Waterfall Trek
In the academic year 2025-26, I took part in a CAS activity in which a group of students went for a trek to Bhavarkada Waterfall near Ahwa in the monsoon season. The trekking route took us through forest trails, uneven terrain, muddy stretches, and rocky stretches to reach the waterfalls. The scenario was picturesque with dense greenery, streams flowing in between, mist in the air, and the music of nature—a stimulating and challenging combination of nature and adventure.
The rainy weather made the trekking route slippery and challenging. However, my group and I were highly motivated to finish the trek. We wore rain gear to protect ourselves from the rain. While trekking, we made sure to walk carefully over the slippery terrain of mud, rocks, and water. The trekking route was a challenge for all of us, but we helped each other to finish the trek successfully. The success of reaching the waterfalls was not in reaching the destination but in the journey of exploring nature and our own limits of endurance.
Learning Outcomes Achieved
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
The trekking experience helped me identify my strengths in terms of physical endurance and mental toughness. I found that I could maintain my stamina even in slippery weather and steep terrain. I also found areas of improvement in terms of balance, trekking skills, and tackling tough terrain with more ease and confidence in the future.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
The rainy weather and muddy terrain made the trekking route a challenge for all of us. The challenge of trekking in a slippery forest terrain taught me to walk carefully and deliberately. I learned to maintain my balance in a slippery terrain, assess risks in a trekking scenario, and cope with changing environmental situations.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experiences
The trekking route was a challenge for all of us, but I made sure to stay focused and finish the trek successfully. The challenge of trekking in a slippery terrain made me persevere and show my commitment to finish the trek successfully.
LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively
The value of teamwork was evident during the trek. My friends and I were there for each other, especially during challenging times, and encouraged each other to push on. This experience has shown me that working together can help to make challenging activities easier and enjoyable.
Conclusion
The trekking expedition has been an enlightening CAS activity, challenging me physically while allowing me to revel in the beauty of nature. I have been able to build up my fitness, improve my team skills, and push my endurance, while at the same time challenging me to step out of my comfort zone.
