CAS Creativity Experience – BM Spark Tank (RePure Filter Bottle)

As part of my CAS Creativity experience, I participated in the BM Spark Tank on 22nd January, where I pitched my business idea called RePute, a portable water filter bottle. The idea behind RePure is simple to provide clean drinking water in a reusable bottle so people don’t have to depend on plastic bottles everywhere. I wanted to create something practical, affordable, and environmentally responsible.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

During the presentation, I realised that one of my strength is explaining ideas clearly, especially when I understand the product deeply. Since I had researched how filtration works and how the bottle would be produced, I felt confident while presenting the features and benefits.

However, I also noticed that I get slightly nervous when unexpected questions are asked,. Sometimes I speak a little fast under pressure. This helped me understand that as an entrepreneur, confidence is important, but calm thinking and clear answering are even more important. Now I know I need to work on handling pressure better.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

The biggest challenge was explaining a technical product in a simple way within a short time. The filtration system has multiple layers, and I had to make sure the teacher understood how it works without making it too complicated.

Through this process, I learned how to:

  • Structure a proper business pitch
  • Simplify complex ideas

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

I took full initiative in planning the product idea. I researched water quality issues, looked at existing filter bottles in the market, and thought about how my product could be different. I planned the problem, solution, pricing, and target customers before creating my slides. This experience showed me that planning is just as important as creativity.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

After getting feedback from my teacher, I didn’t ignore it. I improved my slides, added clearer explanations, and practiced multiple times before presenting again And also got final review after making changes.

Reflection

This experience taught me that solving real-world problems like water safety and plastic waste requires more than just an idea, it requires clear thinking, confidence and preparation. I understood how important it is to communicate a product properly if you want others to believe in it.

The Spark Tank experience helped me grow not only as a student but also as a young entrepreneur. It made me realise that building something meaningful requires creativity, planning, and the courage to present your ideas in front of others.
