As part of this creativity experience, I was part of logistics team in the Fountainhead school Model united nations event that took place on 29th and 30th november 2025. Being part of logistics team meant handling multiple tasks both for preparation and on day execution. This experience helped me to learn about the efforts that go into the organisation of a diplomatic event that mirrors discussions of United nations commitees.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Throughout this experience, I observed that one of my major strenghts was attention to detail. While cross checking the placards for the delegates, I carefully checked names and country allocation to ensure that the correct names and countries had gotten printed. Checking over 300 placards required strong attention to detail and patience. I also identified an area for growth: managing time efficiently when booking orders with vendors and coordinating with other teams. Like the logistics team sent the name badges for print a little late which led to the badges being recieved just a day before the event. This experience helped me become more aware of how important managing time effieciently is.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
One challenge I had to overcome was finalising trophies for the delegates. The trophies needed to look professional and befitting the event while being under the budget limitations we had. I went through a catalogue of over 100 trophies and finalised 3 trophies based on quality, size, price, and professional appeal. This required me to develop decision making skills which are key for handling such events with budgets and deadlines.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
Although i worked with an entire team, I took initiatives by providing proper instructions for badges to the teacher responsible for communicating to the vendor and I also gave the teacher an estimate of how much the budget allows per badge. I ensured that the badge requirements were clearly communicated and verified before placing the order. These small factors in preparation are what contribute to making the event a successs.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
The event was of two days, but the planning and preparation had begun months before the event day. This required coming early to school to manage decorations, helping with decorating committee venues, and balancing this event with academic goals. This event required committment, even though there were moments when I was overwhelmed, I showed perserverence by learning from those stressful moments.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
As the introduction says, I was part of the logistics team where I was working with others to achieve a common goal. I had to communicate and collaborate effectively to ensure that me and my teammates were on the same page, and that everyone was contributing effectively. I also had to work with other teams such as decor, as cross team communication was vital to ensure smoothness and avoid misunderstandings.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.
Model United Nations conferences simulate discussions on issues of global, cultural and political significance. By helping in organize this event, I contributed to the creating of a setting where students with vast global knowledge could come and discuss about international challenges. This event spreaded awareness about human right violations, corruption, and other key international events that people should know about.
LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
When deciding trophy options and coordinating badge orders, I had to consider fairness, transparency, and responsible spending. I had to ensure that the badges were designed fairly even though price restraints were there, like we had to move to plastic badges from metal badges for the OC where higher ranking secretariat had metal badges. Ensuring fairness under pressing budgets was very important in this experience.
Conclusion
Overall, participating in the logistics team for FSMUN was a valuable CAS Creativity experience. It allowed me to understand the backstage work that goes into the creation of an event that has over 300 delegates. This CAS experience increased my curiosity about global events and has motivated me to be a part of such an event again in the future.
