Garba Fest (Activity)

Garba Fest was one of the most vibrant and culturally enriching CAS activities I participated in. Celebrating the spirit of Navratri, this event brought together students, teachers and the wider school community to experience the joy of traditional dance, music and togetherness.

I have always had a strong interest in cultural activities, especially dance and festive celebrations that bring people together. Garba, being a traditional Gujarati folk dance, is closely connected to my cultural roots, which made this experience particularly meaningful for me. I enjoyed learning variations to garba steps that I already knew. My purpose for selecting this CAS experience was to engage more deeply with my culture while also stepping out of my comfort zone socially and physically. I wanted to improve my coordination, stamina and confidence in performing in a group setting. Additionally, I saw this as an opportunity to bond with peers, relieve academic stress, and participate in a vibrant community celebration. Through the Garba Fest, I aimed to develop my dance skills, appreciate cultural traditions, and experience the joy of collective participation.

LO2 – Participating in Garba Fest challenged me to improve my coordination, rhythm, and stamina while performing continuous dance movements. I developed better control over my movements and learned to adapt to group formations and synchronized steps.

LO5 – Garba is a group dance that requires coordination and awareness of others. I worked with my peers to maintain rhythm, adjust my movements within the circle, and contribute to a unified performance, which helped me understand the importance of teamwork and collective participation.
