On the 25th of September 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in Garba Fest, as part of CAS, under Activity. On this day, alongside my peers, I played garba for two hours, which challenged my physical health, since I am an individual who does not engage in physical activity on a regular basis. This was a fun experience that tested my endurance as well. As this being a CAS experience, I majorly focused on 4 Learning Outcomes.
LO1: Identify own strengths, and develop areas for growth:
Garba Fest as a CAS experience, enabled me to identify my areas for improvement. I realized that I was able to coordinate with focus, however sustaining it was a challenge. Which allowed me to identify an area for growth, which was my endurance. Thus, this experience encouraged me to reflect upon my routine life, and highlighted how I should start incorporating physical activity into my daily routine.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:
As mentioned previously, engaging in physical activity continuously for 2 hours is something that me as an individual is not used to. This was a physically demanding activity, which tested my endurance. At the beginning of the event, it was difficult to pace myself with the fast beats, however towards the end of the event, I had paced myself with the dance form through prolonged exposure to the same. Which allowed me to develop my endurance to an extent.
LO4: Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experience:
I committed to this CAS experience, even though I was aware that this might test my physical capabilities. There were times where I felt fatigued, however I persevered, which ultimately led to Garba Fest being a fun and memorable experience.
LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:
Garba Fest is an event where students engage in garba, a cultural dance form that requires immense coordination within groups of individuals. I learned and paced myself with the pace of others, and had learnt the dance with help from my peers as well. This thus shows how working collaboratively allowed me to develop my social skills as well.
Overall, Garba Fest, as part of my CAS (Activity) experience turned out to be a fun and physically demanding experience. This experience allowed me to identify my areas for growth, and pushed me out of my usual habits, testing my perseverance and physical capabilities, respectively.
