Lumos Project

Lumos Project was a CAS service experience in which I volunteered to help organize a “human library” event. This project focused on spreading awareness about important issues such as addiction, stress, and anger management. Some teachers and speakers we invited shared their experiences and guidance on how individuals can overcome such challenges. As a volunteer, I contributed by helping create decorations for the event and assisting with coordination and support on the day of the event.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
One of the challenges I faced during the Lumos Project was working on preparations with limited time and ensuring that everything was organized before the event began, as there were a lot od copies for the decoration and if something gets misplaced we had to redo it.. on the finaly day, I had to respond quickly to small issues and assist wherever needed. Through this process, I developed better organizational skills, improved my ability to work under pressure, and learned how important even small contributions are in making a large event successful.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
The Lumos Project required strong collaboration among volunteers, organizers, and speakers. While making decorations and preparing the venue, I worked with other students to ensure the environment felt welcoming and comfortable for open discussions. On the final day, teamwork was essential to ensure sessions ran smoothly. This experience reinforced the importance of communication, shared responsibility, and mutual support when working toward a common goal. I realized that service projects are rarely successful through individual effort alone, collaboration plays a crucial role.
