As part of my CAS experience, I decided to share my original poems on Instagram. Writing has always been something I enjoy, but I had never shared my work publicly before. Through this experience, I posted several poems about different emotions, daily experiences, and personal thoughts. I also tried to make each post creative by designing backgrounds or adding simple visuals that matched the poem’s mood. At first, I was nervous about how people would react, but as I kept posting, I became more confident in expressing myself and learned to value my creativity.
Learning Outcome 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
This experience helped me discover that I’m good at expressing emotions and ideas through poetry. It allowed me to see writing as one of my main strengths. I realised that I can use words to make people feel something or relate to what I write. However, I also noticed that I need to improve my consistency and planning, since coming up with new ideas regularly was sometimes difficult. Managing time for writing and editing also became an area I wanted to work on.
Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken and new skills developed
Sharing my poems online was a big step for me because it meant opening up to others and facing possible criticism. It took courage to post something personal, especially when I wasn’t sure how people would respond. Over time, I learned how to handle feedback positively and use it to improve. I also developed new skills like designing my posts, writing with better flow, and expressing emotions more clearly through my words.
Learning Outcome 4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
There were times when I struggled with writer’s block or felt unsure if my writing was good enough, but I stayed committed to the process. I made sure to keep writing, editing, and posting regularly even when it was hard. By not giving up, I improved my confidence and my ability to stay disciplined with creative work. This consistency helped me grow as a writer and taught me the importance of following through on something I’m passionate about.
