Rock Climbing:Activity

As a part of activity I went to rock climbing sessions. Being drawn to sports and practicing one of them this served as a whole new experience for me. Over the course of 2 months I learned new skills which may help me in the future and also helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses. Although the loudest challenge of all was facing my constant fear of height and falling. Even if I am physically prepared my mind would refuse to climb due to some embedded experiences. As I learned to climb I was able to overcome these to a greater extent checking off 2 of the major fears that I have.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Throughout the process I identified some strenghts like my interest for spots which kept me captivated to the process of learning, and another strength being that I don’t give up that easily unless I haven’t tried all the methods. These 2 factors led me to learn this skill and acknowledge my strenghts and weaknesses. By understanding and analyzing my weaknesses I not only benefited in the execution part of the activity but also my overall life.

LO 2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

One of the challenges that kept me from learning or bothered me was an old injury in the shoulder due to which I was a bit harder for me to coupe up although that forced me in a good way to use strength from my lower body and rely lesser on my upper body strength. Another skill that was polished were my decision making which was a totally new skill for this activity and as I did it I took better decision in selecting the right blocks which will help me climb up the wall to the top.

LO4-Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

Even though I had other errands to run during the mornings I showed up early to the school and do the activity. This also demanded me to wake up earlier than usual which altered my routine at large one time I thought of not going just because I was so tired of the day before and worked up late until night but then this activity served me as a reminder that if I at least show up it would be good for my body and my brain so my day may feel tiring but this reminded me that I can’t repeat the same story on the next day. THis experience improved my understanding of being consistent and what it results in.

Reflection

Overall, this activity really tested my mentally and physically. Along the sessions I learned new things and that really helped me and also helped me take action over some of the weaknesses and injuries which had been neglected before which really helped me. The CAS activity not only tested me and improved me physically but also mentally.
