This event was something similar to shark tank but instead there was a division between non-profit and profit enterprises. There was a division of teams each containing 6 members and the objective of this event was to present and prose their pitch along with the aspects like finance, idea, target market, and plan.

LO 4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

I had to work with team which demanded active participation and perseverance since at some moments no one was ready to come up with an idea or lead the group in a more productive way. So I had to step in those moments and take initiative, to lead the group and come up with ideas while brainstorming since our category was for profit. Adding to the point we couldn’t complete our task in time since brainstorming took longer than expected so we had to prepare the presentation and work in our free slots and also from home so we could be prepared. I worked with my teammates during those times and it not only improved my understanding about commitment but also reminded me that it is not just about showing up but also helping others understand the importance and encouraging them as well through the small actions.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Being not that involved in group works since a long time I really have a problem collaborating with others but after this experience I realized that working together doesn’t only mean bearing them until the experience is over but its more about presenting your thoughts then listening to what others have to sya and collaboratively after considering each other’s remarks coming up with a common topic which took us time but as we finalized everyone was pretty positive and convince about the topic. Apart from finalizing a topic our collaboration also played a crucial role while the pitch presentation and presentation making where we divided tasks and everyone did theirs to ensure that they are contributing their ideas and also making the pitch more interesting since one of the major benefits of working collaboratively apart from work load division is the exposure to various perspectives.

LO6: Engagement with issues of global significance.

The pitch that we had presented was about the students cramming during exams and our solution aimed to lessen that stress since it leads to a number of consequences like headaches, disturbed sleep, disturbed eating habits which also leads to inconsistency in grades which can impact the student significantly no matter where they live. This was the issue that we identified after discussing about our schedules and as we shared those we came upon a common ground to decide this as the issue driving our solution towards it. This issue is globally significant since most of the students take in high stakes test and apart from it being really academic heavy it also psychologically draining mostly(case to case depends) which also can worsen over time to a stage which can be really sensitive hence we decided t go ahead with this issue.

Reflection:

Overall, This event was really fun and I really enjoyed it. I got to explore and test my own understanding about the subject and how well I can present and explain things. It helped me understand my strenghts and weaknesses and as an experience I got exposed to a similar kind of pitch presentation which can be useful in the future.
