Basketball Club (Project)

This CAS experience is about growing together as a team by developing our basketball skills, building confidence, and strengthening our love for the game. Every week, we focus on improving through drills, practice matches, and team discussions. By the end of the season, our goal is to host a friendly tournament to showcase our progress, enjoy the sport, and celebrate how far we have come as a team.

Learning Outcomes Demonstrated

  • LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I discovered that one of my strengths is communication on the court, like calling out plays or motivating teammates. At the same time, I realized I need to improve my shooting consistency and stamina, which I’ve been working on steadily.
  • LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Basketball has tested me in multiple ways—learning advanced dribbling, staying calm under pressure, and working on defensive positioning. Each challenge has pushed me to develop new technical and mental skills.
  • LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience
As a team, we planned practice sessions, drills, and even the idea of a final friendly tournament. Taking part in this planning gave me insight into how much coordination and responsibility goes into organizing activities.
  • LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The season runs for several months, and showing up consistently, even on days when I was tired or stressed with academics, required real commitment. But the satisfaction of steady progress has kept me motivated.
  • LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Basketball is all about teamwork. I learned that collaboration isn’t just passing the ball but also trusting others, encouraging them, and adjusting my game for the benefit of the team.

Reflection

Leading the basketball club has been one of the most enjoyable CAS experiences for me. I’ve always been passionate about basketball, having played in ISSO, Khel Mahakumbh, and interhouse matches. However, this was different because it wasn’t just about competition—it was about growing as a team. At first, some of us lacked confidence in our skills, but as weeks passed, we improved together. The small wins—like making a clean three-pointer or pulling off a coordinated play—gave us motivation to push further. More importantly, I realized how much of basketball is about trust and encouragement. Looking ahead, I’m excited for our final friendly tournament. It won’t just be about winning or losing—it will be about celebrating the journey, the commitment we’ve shown, and the friendships we’ve built through the sport.
