Farewell Dance Preparation (Creativity)

Farewell Dance Preparation

Final Performance: 6 February 2026

Preparation Duration: Two Weeks

I was part of the farewell celebration for Batch 2027. We. Performed a dance routine. For two weeks before 6 February 2026 we practised every day to get our dance moves and formations right.

This was a way for us to say thank you to the seniors. We wanted to celebrate their time with us and make the performance special. We had to use our imagination and work together to make it happen.

LO1 – Identify strengths and develop areas for growth

When we were getting ready for the performance I found out that I can learn dance moves quickly. I can also remember the steps. Keep the rhythm. I like performing and expressing my feelings through dance.

I also saw that I need to work on being more confident on stage and using my facial expressions. Sometimes I was so focused on getting the steps right that I forgot to show my emotions. This experience taught me that dance is not about getting the moves right but also about feeling the music and showing it.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Practising every day for two weeks was tough. We had to make sure we had time for our schoolwork too. It was hard to get all our movements in sync especially when we were doing formations.

The more we practised, the better I got at keeping the rhythm and moving with the group. I also got better at managing my time and staying focused. Performing in front of people helped me feel more confident and not so nervous.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

We had to plan the dance routine. We chose the music created the choreography and decided on the formations. We broke down the practice into parts. First we learned the individual steps then we worked on getting them just right and adding feelings to the dance.

Being part of the planning process taught me that you need to have a plan to make something like this work. You have to think about all the details and make sure everyone is on the page.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

We practised every day for two weeks. It was not always easy. I kept going because I wanted to make the performance great. When we made mistakes we kept trying until we got it right.

This experience taught me that if you want to achieve something you have to keep trying and not give up. You have to be committed to making it happen.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills. Recognise the benefits of working collaboratively

Dance is all about working together. You have to be in sync with the dancers and work as a team. We helped each other out during practice gave each feedback and supported each other.

When we worked together I saw that it made the dance better. We were all. It felt amazing.

LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of significance

Dance is a way to express yourself and connect with others. It brings people together. Creates a sense of community. Performing at the farewell celebration made our school community feel more united.

I learned that arts and creative expression are important for making the world a better place. They help people understand and appreciate each other.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

While we were preparing for the performance we made sure that our dance moves and music were respectful. We thought about how our performance would affect the people watching and made sure everyone felt included.

This experience taught me that when you are part of a group you have to think about how your actions will affect others. You have to be responsible and respectful.

The farewell dance was an experience. It helped me become more disciplined, confident and a better team player. I learned that if you want to be creative you have to be willing to work and take risks.

Our final performance on 6 February 2026 was the result of our work and teamwork. It showed me that creativity is not about being talented but, about working together being brave and having fun.
