For this CAS experience, I was part of the organizing committee for FS Got Talent, a talent show that aimed to celebrate creativity and bring the school community together. My main responsibilities included coordinating with performers, helping plan the event flow, managing backstage tasks, and ensuring smooth execution on the final day. This experience helped me grow as a Communicator, a Risk-taker, and Balanced.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through this experience, I realized that one of my strengths is communication. I was able to clearly coordinate with my core team and the participants, which helped avoid confusion and last-minute issues. At the same time, I recognized that I need to work on time management, especially when balancing academics with event deadlines. This helped me identify new personal growth areas.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Since it was my first time helping manage a major school event, I faced challenges like handling performer schedules, last-minute changes, and addressing technical needs. Overcoming these helped me develop new skills in event management, organization, and quick problem-solving.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience
Our team took the initiative to structure the event, plan auditions, discuss stage requirements, assign duties, and finalize the program sequence. I contributed to planning meetings, prepared backstage lists, and helped create a clear workflow for the event day.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment
There were moments where the workload felt overwhelming, especially closer to the event. However, by staying committed, attending every meeting, finishing my assigned tasks, and helping wherever needed I demonstrated perseverance throughout the process.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
FS Got Talent was a completely team-driven event. Working with my peers taught me the importance of clear communication, trust, and collaboration. We divided responsibilities based on strengths, supported each other during stressful moments, and ensured the event ran smoothly as a collective effort.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance
The event celebrated diversity, inclusion, and cultural expression, which are globally important themes. By giving students a platform to express different talents and identities, we promoted respect, creativity, and acceptance, values relevant to the wider world.
LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions
We ensured that the event remained fair and respectful. This included making ethical choices such as giving equal opportunity to all performers, respecting their creative choices, and avoiding bias during auditions or scheduling. I also made sure my actions backstage were supportive, responsible, and safe for everyone involved.
