From 21 September 2025 onwards, I served as the OC Head of Outreach for FSMUN (Fountainhead School Model United Nations), an event held on 29 and 30 November 2025. In this role, I was responsible for reaching out to organizations for sponsorships, managing official external communication, and representing FSMUN’s identity in a professional manner. The experience required sustained effort over time and encouraged continuous reflection, allowing me to grow both personally and in my approach to leadership.
LO 1: Identify strengths and develop areas for growth
This experience helped me clearly identify my strengths in structured communication, organisation, and strategic thinking. I was confident while drafting formal emails, presenting FSMUN’s vision, and maintaining professionalism in external interactions. At the same time, I became aware of areas where I needed growth, particularly in handling uncertainty, delayed responses, and rejection from potential sponsors. Learning to remain patient and motivated despite these setbacks helped me develop emotional resilience and a more reflective mindset. Over time, I consciously adjusted my communication style and approach, which allowed me to grow more confident and self-aware in leadership situations.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The outreach process involved several challenges, including initiating conversations with unfamiliar organisations, sustaining professional communication over long periods, and balancing outreach responsibilities alongside academic commitments. These challenges pushed me to develop new skills such as persuasive yet formal communication, time management, and adaptability. I learned how to plan follow-ups effectively, refine outreach strategies based on responses, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Each challenge contributed to building practical skills that I had not previously developed.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Outreach was a continuous responsibility that required consistent effort over several weeks. This included identifying potential sponsors, sending multiple follow-ups, revising outreach materials, and coordinating with the organising committee. Despite slow responses and uncertain outcomes, I remained committed to my role and continued contributing consistently. This experience reinforced the importance of perseverance and reliability, especially in leadership roles where results are not immediate but depend on sustained effort.
LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
As the Head of Outreach, I took initiative in identifying potential sponsors and planning outreach timelines. I structured communication schedules and ensured that tasks were planned in advance, allowing outreach efforts to remain organised and purposeful throughout the preparation period.
LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
While managing outreach, I worked closely with members from other departments to maintain consistency in messaging and coordination. This collaboration highlighted the importance of teamwork in ensuring smooth execution and achieving shared goals during the event.
LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Representing FSMUN externally required ethical and responsible communication. I ensured transparency, respect, and professionalism in all interactions, understanding that my actions directly reflected the values and credibility of the institution.
In conclusion, serving as the OC Head of Outreach for FSMUN strengthened my ability to reflect on my strengths, face challenges constructively, and remain committed over time. This experience allowed me to develop confidence, resilience, and responsibility, while reinforcing the importance of professionalism and integrity when representing a formal platform.
