As part of my CAS Creativity experience, I volunteered for FSMUN 12.0 as part of the décor and logistics team. My primary role involved creating and setting up décor elements that contributed to the overall professional and formal atmosphere of the conference.
Planning and Decor Contribution
A major part of my role was working on decor preparations before the event. I came to school early, outside regular hours, to help create props, banners, and visual elements that would be used across different committees. Setting up the decor required precision and attention to detail, as the environment needed to reflect the seriousness and professionalism of a Model United Nations conference.
Challenges and Skills Developed (LO2)
One challenge was ensuring that all decor elements were completed on time while maintaining quality. This required efficiency and teamwork. Through this, I developed creativity, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Collaboration (LO5)
I worked closely with team members and coordinated with other teams to ensure consistency across the event setup.
Commitment (LO4)
The preparation required dedication, including coming early and contributing extra time to ensure everything was ready.
Personal Reflection
Overall, this experience helped me understand the importance of behind-the-scenes work in creating successful events. It strengthened my creativity and teamwork skills while giving me a deeper appreciation for event planning.
