The Garba Fest was an opportunity for me to actively engage in a cultural celebration that blended creativity, collaboration, and physical performance. As part of the school’s event, I participated in a traditional Gujarati dance, which required focus, coordination, and teamwork. What began as a cultural activity soon became a valuable learning experience that challenged me to develop new skills, persevere through difficulties, and demonstrate commitment to both personal and group goals.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Participating in the Garba Fest presented several challenges that encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and develop new skills. The dance sequences were fast-paced and required precision, rhythm, and coordination, which initially made it difficult to stay in sync with the group. Additionally, the limited space during the performance required me to adapt my movements and remain mindful of others to maintain the flow of the dance. Through consistent practice and observation, I learned to adjust my rhythm, refine my steps, and develop better spatial awareness. These challenges helped me enhance my coordination, adaptability, and ability to perform under dynamic conditions. The experience strengthened my confidence in learning through practice and reinforced the value of persistence when mastering a new skill.
LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Garba is a group dance that depends heavily on coordination and teamwork. If one person missed a beat or step, the entire circle could lose its flow. This taught me the importance of paying attention to others, staying synchronized, and communicating nonverbally through movement and rhythm. Working collaboratively made the performance more harmonious and reminded me how teamwork, awareness, and cooperation enhance both the process and the outcome.
Overall, the Garba Fest was an enriching experience that combined cultural expression with personal development. By facing challenges and committing to improvement, I not only enhanced my performance skills but also strengthened my resilience and discipline—qualities that will continue to benefit me in future CAS experiences and beyond.
