LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Organizing a football tournament involved several challenges, particularly managing multiple teams, scheduling matches, and handling unexpected delays. At times, teams arrived late or conflicts arose regarding match timings, which required quick decision making. Through this experience, I developed new skills in event management, problem solving, and communication. I also improved my ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations while ensuring the tournament ran smoothly.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

This project was entirely self initiated, starting from my interest in football and my desire to create a meaningful event. I planned the tournament by designing the format, organizing registrations, creating match fixtures, and managing logistics such as venue booking and equipment. I also prepared a budget and ensured all arrangements were completed before the event. This experience helped me understand the importance of structured planning, time management, and attention to detail in executing a successful project.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

The project required consistent effort over a month, from initial planning to final execution. Despite balancing academic responsibilities, I remained committed to completing all tasks on time. During the tournament, I stayed actively involved throughout both days, ensuring everything ran according to plan. Even when challenges arose, I continued to work towards solutions rather than giving up. This experience taught me that perseverance is essential for achieving long term goals.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

The success of the tournament depended heavily on teamwork and collaboration. I worked with my project partner, participants, and referees to ensure smooth execution. Effective communication and coordination were necessary to manage teams and maintain discipline during matches. This experience showed me that collaboration enhances efficiency and allows for better problem solving, as different perspectives contribute to improved outcomes.

LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

This project addressed the importance of physical well being and community engagement, which are global concerns linked to SDG 3: Good Health and Well Being. By promoting sports and physical activity, the tournament encouraged a healthier lifestyle among participants. Additionally, raising funds for a charitable cause helped me understand how local initiatives can contribute to broader social impact, reinforcing the idea that small actions can address global issues.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

While organizing the tournament, I ensured that all decisions were fair and transparent. I established clear rules to maintain discipline and prevent conflicts during matches. I also ensured that funds collected were handled responsibly and directed toward the intended charitable purpose. This experience helped me understand the importance of ethical leadership, fairness, and accountability when managing an event that involves multiple stakeholders.
