For this CAS experience, I took up the role of a photographer during an event. I’ve always enjoyed capturing moments through pictures, and this opportunity allowed me to combine creativity with responsibility. It was a great learning experience that helped me improve my photography skills while also learning how to work under pressure and collaborate with others.
LO1 – Identifying strengths and areas for growth
While doing photography for the event, I realized I’m good at spotting the right moments to capture and framing shots creatively. I managed my time well and stayed alert throughout. At the same time, I noticed I need to work on handling lighting better and adjusting my camera settings more quickly when conditions change.
LO2 – Taking on challenges and learning new skills
This experience pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and handle different challenges like low light, moving subjects, and time pressure. I learned how to use my camera more confidently in manual mode and how to capture emotions through pictures. It also helped me build patience and adaptability.
LO4 – Showing perseverance and commitment
Even though it was a long and sometimes tiring day, I stayed focused and made sure to cover all the important moments. I kept checking my work and redoing shots when needed. My commitment helped me capture memories that the team really appreciated.
LO5 – Working collaboratively and seeing its benefits
I worked closely with the organizers and other volunteers to understand what they wanted photographed. We shared ideas and helped each other throughout the event. Collaborating made the work easier, more organized, and a lot more fun — I learned how teamwork really improves the final outcome.
Conclusion:
Overall, this experience taught me a lot more than just photography. It showed me the value of focus, teamwork, and perseverance. I became more confident in my skills, learned to adapt to challenges, and discovered how rewarding it feels to contribute to something creative and meaningful.
