Indian University Fair Volunteer – Service

On the 16th of January 2026, I supported my school during the Indian University Fair, an event organized to connect students with representatives from universities across India. The fair aimed to help students better understand academic programs, admission processes, and future pathways within the Indian higher education system. My involvement included pre-event promotion through social media marketing as well as on-the-day responsibilities assisting university representatives and students.

Before the event, I helped promote the fair through the school’s social media platforms to ensure that students were informed and encouraged to attend. This required planning content that was clear and engaging. During the fair, I assisted university representatives by guiding them to their assigned areas, helping with coordination, and addressing logistical concerns. I also supported students by helping them locate universities that matched their interests and academic goals. Through this experience, I worked toward the following CAS learning outcomes.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
This experience helped me recognize my strengths in communication and organization. Interacting with a wide range of people allowed me to build confidence, while also identifying the need to improve my ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Balancing pre-event responsibilities with on-the-day duties was challenging. Adapting to last-minute changes and responding to the needs of both students and representatives helped me develop new skills in time management, coordination, and problem-solving.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Contributing to social media promotion required initiative and planning. I ensured that relevant information was communicated on time and in an organized manner. During the event, I took responsibility for addressing tasks as they arose, strengthening my planning and organizational skills.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
I remained engaged throughout both the preparation and execution of the fair. Maintaining focus and responsibility in a fast-paced environment demonstrated perseverance and commitment to my role.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
The smooth functioning of the fair depended on collaboration between school staff, volunteers, and university representatives. Working as part of a team highlighted the importance of communication, cooperation, and shared responsibility.

LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
While assisting students, I ensured that guidance was provided without personal bias. Supporting students in locating relevant universities required honesty and respect, reinforcing the importance of ethical behavior when helping others make important academic decisions.

Through this experience, I developed the IB learner profile attributes of Communicator, Caring, and Principled. In conclusion, supporting the Indian University Fair was a valuable experience that strengthened my organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills while allowing me to contribute meaningfully to my school community.
