Type of CAS: Activity
Location: Bhavar Kada Waterfalls, Dang
Having the chance to test both my physical and mental readiness during one of the toughest treks I have ever attempted was an unforgettable experience. On July 25, 2025, I eagerly took part in my first trekking adventure—a journey to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls in the Dang region. Organized by my school as part of a CAS trip, this experience pushed me beyond my limits and helped me develop essential life skills such as resilience, adaptability, and maintaining a positive mindset. These qualities became crucial as we encountered multiple challenges while also creating lasting memories with friends.
The trek began with excitement and enthusiasm, but as time went on, the return journey to the base village became increasingly demanding. The four-hour trek involved crossing small streams and navigating muddy trails in rainy conditions, which tested both our endurance and determination. Through this experience, I achieved several learning outcomes that helped me reflect on my strengths and areas that need improvement.
Learning Outcome 1 :- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Before the trek, I believed I could complete with only minimal difficulty, as I considered that the trek would be easy even when I am physically unfit. However, the steep slopes and slippery paths challenged this belief and forced me to reassess my physical attributes. As I progressed, the unpredictable terrain made it difficult to maintain stability despite careful movement.
The trek proved too difficult and dangerous for me, as due to my heavier weight, I could not find grip on one of the slippery sections, and I did not have the mental fortitude to try such a risky situation. I had already fallen multiple times, so I believed that I would get seriously injured if I try again, hence I rested mid-way until the others came back.

Learning Outcome 2 :- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
This trek was highly challenging rather than moderate, especially due to the rainy season, which made the paths more dangerous for both ascent and descent. It exposed me to a demanding situation that required perseverance, adaptability, flexibility, and improved body coordination while managing physical discomfort.
I also demonstrated important soft skills such as awareness of my surroundings, teamwork, adaptability, and resilience. There were moments when I was afraid or unsure of what to do. In this case, problem-solving and teamwork were essential in overcoming these challenges. Accepting help from others also showed me the importance of cooperation and mutual support.

Learning Outcome 4 :- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS Experiences
This trekking experience required strong commitment and perseverance throughout the unpredictable journey. When I took the break mid way to the waterfall, I began to feel discouraged, knowing that I could not go further due to my body.
The encouragement and support from my friends played a crucial role in helping me keep myself enthusiastic on the way back. They understood my struggles and their motivation gave me the confidence to continue step by step. As a result, I was able to complete the trek back.
In the end, the trek gave me a strong sense of achievement and reinforced the importance of resilience when working toward meaningful goals. Facing challenges with determination in unfamiliar situations strengthened my mindset and inspired me greatly.
Learning Outcome 5 :- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
The entire trek was a team effort, supported by students, group leaders, and staff members. Throughout the journey, we helped one another climb steep areas, cross muddy paths, and navigate water streams, without judging each other’s pace or ability.
This first-time experience significantly improved my collaboration skills. I realized that without teamwork and mutual support I would not be able to go as far as I did.
