Participating in Night Tournament – Pickleball

Introduction

As part of my CAS journey, I participated in a pickleball night tournament playing doubles. The purpose of this activity was to challenge myself physically and mentally while engaging in a competitive team environment. Although my partner and I didn’t win, I pushed myself throughout the matches and performed to the best of my ability. The experience helped me improve my fitness, teamwork, and resilience, while also teaching me how to stay motivated and positive under pressure. It encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and grow both physically and mentally.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

During the tournament, I recognized resilience as one of my strengths, as I stayed focused and continued giving my best despite not winning. I learned to remain positive and determined throughout the matches. However, I also identified areas for growth, particularly improving my stamina and technical skills. This reflection motivated me to work on building better endurance and consistency for future games.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Playing in a competitive night tournament pushed me outside my comfort zone and required adaptability, focus, and quick decision-making. Managing pressure during matches helped me develop better coordination, game awareness, and physical endurance. The experience taught me how to stay calm in challenging situations and continue performing even when faced with setbacks.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Playing doubles highlighted the importance of teamwork and communication. I worked closely with my partner, supporting each other and adjusting strategies together throughout the tournament. This experience showed me how collaboration improves performance, builds trust, and makes challenges easier to manage, reinforcing the value of cooperation in achieving shared goals.

Conclusion

Overall, the pickleball night tournament was a meaningful CAS experience that helped me grow both physically and mentally. It pushed me to stay resilient, work collaboratively, and remain positive in a competitive environment. Through this experience, I developed greater confidence, improved teamwork skills, and a stronger understanding of perseverance. It motivated me to continue challenging myself and staying active while learning from both successes and setbacks.
