CAS Reflection – Garba Fest Stall

Description of the activity and goals (100 words):
For our school’s annual Garba Fest, my friend and I set up a stall selling khakra pizza and masala lemonade. The primary goal of this activity was not only to contribute to the festive atmosphere but also to raise funds for a meaningful cause, as all earnings from our sales were donated. Our intention was to serve the school community with affordable and unique snacks while practicing teamwork, responsibility, and service. This experience gave me the opportunity to combine creativity with community service, and at the same time, learn about managing sales, interacting with people, and giving back meaningfully.
Reflection based on Learning Outcomes:
LO1 – Identify own strengths and areas for growth:
I realized that one of my strengths lies in communication—I was confident while explaining our food items and encouraging people to try them. However, I noticed I need to improve my time management as we sometimes struggled to keep up when demand was high. Being aware of this makes me more mindful about preparing better in advance for similar situations.
LO2 – Undertaking challenges & developing new skills:
Managing a food stall was challenging as it required quick decision-making, hygiene maintenance, and handling money accurately under pressure. It was my first time running something like this, but I learned to stay calm and focused. This experience improved my multitasking skills, which will be valuable in both academic and real-life scenarios.
LO3 – Initiating and planning:
The entire process, from deciding what items to sell to arranging ingredients and organizing our stall setup, demanded proper planning. I learned how important it is to anticipate small details like serving methods and pricing strategies. This gave me confidence to plan future initiatives more systematically.
LO4 – Commitment and perseverance:
Even though it was tiring to continuously prepare and serve, our motivation to support a charitable cause kept us committed. It felt rewarding to see our efforts making an impact, no matter how small.
LO5 – Collaborative work:
Working with my friend made the experience enjoyable and smooth. We divided responsibilities—one focusing on preparation while the other handled payments and customer interaction. This taught me the value of teamwork and trust in collaboration.
LO6 – Global significance:
Food insecurity and access to clean food and beverages are global issues. Even though our contribution was small, raising money through food sales reminded me of how communities can come together to address broader concerns through collective effort.
LO7 – Ethics of choices and actions:
The decision to donate our earnings reflects ethical responsibility. I felt proud knowing that our choices directly contributed to a positive cause. This strengthened my belief in using opportunities for meaningful service.
Final Takeaway:
This experience allowed me to embody the learner profile traits of being caring, principled, and communicative. I learned how small acts, like selling snacks at a festival, can ripple into larger impacts when the intention is service-oriented. It strengthened my teamwork, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, while also teaching me the joy of giving back. The highlight of this experience was seeing people enjoy what we made while knowing that our earnings would go toward helping others. In the future, I hope to continue using creativity and initiative to serve my community in similar ways.
