Trip to Mokhamal

Creativity | Activity | Service

LO1 – Identify strengths and areas for growth

On this trip to Mokhamal, I learned that one of my strengths is adaptability. I had to be adaptable to a new environment and had to be careful to follow instructions and be focused in order to successfully complete the work at Santaram’s house. However, I also learned that I need to be more confident in using tools and in taking up leadership roles in a group. I need to be less dependent on others and be more independent.

LO2 – Undertake challenges and develop new skills

The activities I undertook during this trip to Mokhamal were completely new to me. Welding and painting required physical strenght and pricetions, concentration, and awareness. I had to be creative in learning Warli art, as I had to comprehend traditional designs and their meaning. I had to be a team player in cooking food for the school children, as we had to buy food for this also.

LO3 – Work collaboratively

Teamwork was a key factor in the trip. While at Santaram’s place, we worked together to ensure that the welding and painting work was done properly and safely. In the process of preparing the food, we worked together to cut the vegetables, stir the food, and serve the food. Through this experience, I learned that teamwork enhances the results and promotes confidence among the team.

LO4 – Show commitment and perseverance

The activities needed physical and mental commitment. Although at times I was feeling tired, especially during the physical work and the process of preparing the food, I was committed to the task at hand. I learned that service needs commitment and dedication. By being positive and committed to the work, I demonstrated my perseverance and commitment to the community service.
