Volunteering at the School University Fair

I volunteered at my school’s university fair, where representatives from universities across India interacted with students. I chose this experience because I enjoy contributing to school events and wanted to support an initiative that helps students make informed decisions about their future. My role was to ensure that they felt welcomed and supported so that the focus remained on meaningful conversations with students.

During the fair, I helped guests set up their tables and displays, guided them to different facilities on campus, and assisted with coordination throughout the event. While the tasks seemed simple at first, I quickly realized that the role required constant awareness, initiative, and effective communication. There were moments when multiple guests needed help at the same time, and I had to prioritize tasks and remain calm under pressure. These situations taught me to think quickly and act responsibly.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

One challenge I faced was managing multiple responsibilities at once, especially when several guests required assistance simultaneously. I had to stay calm, prioritize tasks, and communicate clearly to avoid confusion. This pushed me to improve my time management and adaptability. I also learned how to anticipate problems—such as missing materials or unclear directions—and address them before they escalated. These experiences strengthened my confidence in handling pressure and responding effectively in dynamic situations.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Although the event was organized by the school, I took initiative by preparing myself in advance. I familiarized myself with the campus layout, the event schedule, and the expectations of my role. I also coordinated with fellow volunteers to divide responsibilities efficiently. This planning helped the event run smoothly and allowed me to assist guests confidently without needing constant guidance. It showed me that preparation and initiative are essential for successful service experiences.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Throughout the event, I remained attentive and dedicated to my responsibilities, even during busy and stressful moments. There were times when the workload felt overwhelming, but I stayed focused and continued assisting wherever needed. By maintaining a positive attitude and staying reliable, I ensured that guests felt supported at all times. This experience reinforced the importance of perseverance and responsibility, especially when others depend on your role.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

I worked closely with other student volunteers and teachers to coordinate tasks and manage the flow of the event. We shared responsibilities, communicated updates, and supported one another during peak periods. Observing how teamwork improved efficiency helped me understand the value of collaboration. By working together, we created a welcoming and organized environment that would not have been possible individually.
