As part of my CAS creativity experience, I decided to explore one of my long-time interests — baking. I spent several days experimenting with recipes and preparing brownies, cake pops, and cold cocoa, all made by myself at home. Later, I presented and sold them at a school event. What started as a small idea turned into a wonderful experience of creativity, planning, and interaction with others.
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Before this experience, I already enjoyed baking but had mostly followed simple recipes. Preparing food for a larger audience was new to me — it required consistency, presentation, and time management. Through this process, I realized that my strength lies in attention to detail and presentation, as I loved decorating the cake pops and arranging the stall aesthetically. However, I also recognized areas for growth, such as improving batch preparation and portion control to ensure that every serving looked and tasted the same. This balance between creativity and precision helped me refine my skills further.
LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
This experience involved much more than just baking. I had to plan the entire process — from choosing recipes and purchasing ingredients to organizing packaging and pricing for the school event. I made a checklist to stay organized and practiced each recipe beforehand to ensure it turned out right. During the event, I coordinated with other participants and managed my stall efficiently. Through this, I learned how planning, organization, and initiative are key to turning a simple idea into a successful creative experience.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Although I baked everything myself, the event required strong teamwork and coordination. I collaborated with the school organizers to plan the stall layout, arranged supplies with other participants, and worked together to attract visitors to our section. During the event, I interacted with classmates and volunteers who helped manage the crowd and handle payments, which taught me the value of communication, organization, and mutual support. This experience made me realize that collaboration not only lightens responsibilities but also enhances creativity and overall success.
This CAS creativity experience taught me that creativity is not limited to art — it can be found in cooking, planning, and presenting something with love and purpose. Baking and selling brownies, cake pops, and cold cocoa was both fulfilling and educational. I developed practical skills, confidence, and an entrepreneurial mindset, all while bringing smiles to others through something I created with my own hands.
Through this activity, I achieved Learning Outcomes 1, 3, and 5 — discovering strengths and growth areas, learning how to plan effectively, and understanding the value of collaboration. Most importantly, it reminded me that creativity, when shared, can spread happiness.
