Bal Mela – (Service)

Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

While teaching origami to students from government schools, I realized the importance of clear communication and patience. Guiding children step by step helped me recognize my strength in engaging with younger students, while also identifying areas for improvement such as simplifying instructions and managing time effectively.

Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Managing a group of children with different learning speeds was challenging. I had to adapt my teaching methods, repeat steps, and stay attentive to ensure everyone could participate. This experience helped me develop adaptability, problem-solving skills, and confidence in teaching others.

Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

The origami stall was run as a team, requiring coordination in preparing materials, guiding students, and supporting each other throughout the activity. Working collaboratively made the stall more effective and highlighted the importance of teamwork and shared responsibility.

Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

By interacting with students from government schools, this activity addressed the issue of educational inequality by providing access to creative, hands-on learning. The experience allowed me to contribute positively to the community and understand the role of service in promoting inclusion and equal learning opportunities.
