CAS trip(Trek)

Type of CAS: Activity
Location: Bhavar Kada

For my CAS experience, I participated in a trek to Bhavar Kada, one of the more challenging and adventurous destinations I have explored. The journey combined physical endurance, teamwork, and environmental awareness, making it very different from my usual activities. Trekking through steep climbs, rocky paths, and unpredictable weather gave me an opportunity to test my limits and develop a new appreciation for nature’s beauty and resilience.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
During the trek, I realized that I am able to stay calm and focused even in physically demanding situations. My strength lay in maintaining a positive attitude when the climb became tiring or difficult. However, I also recognized areas for growth, such as building greater physical stamina and preparing more thoroughly in terms of fitness and packing essentials for long treks.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Bhavar Kada presented many challenges—slippery rocks, narrow paths, and steep inclines. At first, I was unsure about my ability to handle these obstacles, but with guidance and persistence, I gradually learned techniques like balancing on uneven terrain, pacing myself on long climbs, and managing energy efficiently. These new trekking skills gave me confidence and reminded me that challenges are opportunities for growth.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The trek tested my perseverance at every stage. There were moments when I felt like giving up, especially during the steep climbs, but I stayed committed to completing the journey. I kept reminding myself that reaching the summit was not just a personal goal but also part of the collective spirit of the group. This persistence helped me push through discomfort and finish the trek successfully.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Teamwork was essential during the trek. We relied on one another for encouragement, guidance, and practical help—whether it was sharing water, pulling each other up difficult stretches, or motivating the group when fatigue set in. I experienced firsthand how collaboration makes demanding tasks easier and how mutual support strengthens group morale.

LO6 – Demonstrating Engagement with Issues of Global Significance
Trekking in Bhavar Kada also deepened my awareness of environmental issues. Passing through forests and natural landscapes reminded me of the urgent need to protect such spaces from deforestation and pollution. It connected me to broader global issues like conservation, climate change, and the preservation of biodiversity. This experience motivated me to be more environmentally conscious in my own lifestyle.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions
The trek also highlighted the ethical responsibility of leaving no negative impact on the environment. We made sure not to litter, avoided disturbing wildlife, and followed “leave no trace” principles. I realized that every choice—whether carrying plastic, damaging plants, or even making too much noise—affects the ecosystem. This trek reinforced that outdoor adventures are not just about personal enjoyment but about respecting and protecting the environment for future generations.
