FS GOT TALENT – Creativity

For this year’s FS Got Talent event, I contributed to the creative decoration and overall event assistance. My main responsibilities included designing the stage backdrop, arranging materials on the last moment, setting up the audience area in the assembly, and assisting the organising team in ensuring the event ran smoothly. I worked with a small group of volunteers, and together we tried to create an exciting, welcoming, and visually appealing atmosphere for the performers and the audience.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and areas for growth
While working on the decorations, I realized that I am strong in visual planning and color coordination. I noticed, however, that I need to improve my time management when working under event deadlines given by the coordinators . This experience helped me understand how to use my creative strengths effectively while identifying where I must grow.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken and developed new skills in the process
One of the biggest challenges was coordinating design ideas with the rest of the group while making sure everything matched the event’s theme. I also learned how to create decorations quickly and neatly under time pressure. This taught me new practical skills like crafting decor, improvising with limited materials or existing martial , and adjusting designs when plans changed last-minute.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I took the initiative to suggest a color palette and layout for the stage setup. I managed the assembly area on the which meant adjusting the table, catering to the audience needs and managing the crowd which required the planning with my partner. Planning our workflow helped us complete the setup on time and made the process smoother.

LO4 – Show commitment and perseverance
There were moments when the work seemed overwhelming especially when some decorations fell off and needed to be redone. There were also some points when there were lots of early in with the ongoing deadline of other subjects despite this, I stayed committed and continued refining the designs until they looked presentable. I also arrived early on the event day to ensure the final setup was perfect and stayed afterwards to help the team clean up.

LO5 – Demonstrate collaborative skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Collaboration was the heart of this experience. We had to communicate constantly, divide responsibilities, and support one another. Working with others allowed us to turn simple ideas into a lively event setting. I learned that creativity becomes more powerful when shared, as everyone contributed unique ideas.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance
While the event was not directly linked to a global issue but we used lots of the previous event resources we all as a team made sure that whatever decorations are done are with the help of used resources, our decorations and creative atmosphere encouraged students to celebrate diversity in talent and expression a value that is important globally.

LO7 – Recognize and consider ethical choices
During the experience, I made sure to use materials responsibly and avoid unnecessary waste. We reused previous event decorations and recycled leftover paper whenever possible. This helped us keep the activity environmentally conscious.

Being part of the FS Got Talent organising and decoration team was a meaningful, creative experience. It allowed me to express myself artistically while contributing to the school community. I learned the importance of planning, teamwork, and adaptability. Above all, I understood how creativity can enhance an event and make it more memorable for everyone involved
