As part of my CAS experience, I undertook a series of continuous cross-country runs of 3 km, 3 km, and 5 km. Through this activity, I actively contributed to developing my physical endurance, discipline, and overall fitness.
LO1 – Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth:
Throughout the runs, I recognised a key personal strength: my determination to keep going even when physically tired. I learned that I am capable of pushing myself to complete long distances. At the same time, I identified areas for improvement—particularly my speed and stamina—which require continuous training and a more structured running routine.
LO2 – Undertaking New Challenges and Developing New Skills:
Long-distance running was a significant challenge for me, both mentally and physically. It demanded focused energy management, controlled breathing, and the ability to maintain a steady pace. I developed new skills such as regulating my rhythm, monitoring my endurance, and staying mentally centred during longer runs. These skills allowed me to improve my consistency and confidence.
LO4 – Commitment and Perseverance:
The 5 km run, especially, tested my perseverance. There were moments when fatigue set in, when I craved water, and when I felt the urge to stop. However, my commitment to completing the task and my motivation to improve kept me going. Overcoming these internal obstacles reinforced the importance of perseverance in physical activities.
Overall, my engagement in cross-country running strengthened my resilience, self-discipline, and commitment to maintaining my physical health. I learned that progress is built through patience and regular effort, and that the habits formed through physical training apply equally to academics and personal goals. Most importantly, this experience motivated me to continue working on my stamina and speed while carrying the same determination into future challenges across all areas of life.
