Type of CAS: Activity
Location: In School
For my CAS activity, I participated in cross country running. This experience was both physically demanding and personally rewarding, as it pushed me far outside my comfort zone. Unlike casual jogging, cross country required me to maintain stamina over long distances, stay mentally focused, and adapt to different terrains such as grass, mud, and slopes. The activity taught me not just about running, but about resilience and self-discipline.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through cross country, I recognized my strength in determination and consistency. Even when I felt exhausted, I was able to keep pushing forward and finish the runs. At the same time, I realized I need to improve my pace and endurance, since I often slowed down midway. This balance of strengths and weaknesses helped me set clearer goals for my personal fitness journey.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Running long distances across uneven ground was a big challenge. At first, I struggled with pacing myself and controlling my breathing. However, with practice, I learned how to maintain a steady rhythm and manage my energy better. I also developed time management skills by balancing training with schoolwork. These challenges taught me valuable lessons about patience, discipline, and gradually building new skills over time.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Cross country required a high level of perseverance. Training sessions were often tough, and there were days when I felt too tired to continue. Still, I stayed committed to the activity, attending practices regularly and giving my best effort in every run. This consistency not only improved my performance but also showed me the importance of persistence when working toward long-term goals.
