Farewell – Creativity

As part of the creativity strand of CAS, I participated in organizing the farewell event for our Grade 12 seniors and was a member of the decor team. The farewell was organized to celebrate the seniors’ journey and make their last school event memorable. As part of the decor team, I worked with other students to plan and set up decorations that would create a welcoming and festive atmosphere. We discussed different decoration ideas, arranged materials and prepared the venue before the event. Since the this required extra time, we also had to come early to school to complete the decoration work before the event began. This experience allowed me to express my creativity while also understanding the effort required to organize an important school event.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Through this experience, I realized that I enjoy creative tasks such as arranging decorations and organizing materials. I was able to contribute by helping set up the decor and ensuring that everything was placed properly. I also noticed that working on decorations requires attention to detail and patience, especially when arranging items so that the overall setup looks neat and visually appealing. This helped me recognize that I should continue improving my ability to focus on small details while working on creative tasks.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Preparing the decorations involved several challenges, especially managing limited materials and completing the setup within a short amount of time. Some of our initial decoration ideas had to be simplified so that they could be completed before the event started. We had to adjust our plans and work efficiently to ensure the venue was ready on time. Through this experience, I developed better problem-solving skills and learned how to adapt ideas based on the available resources and time.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

I remained involved throughout the preparation process and helped complete the decoration work before the farewell event. The setup required coming early to school and spending time making the decorations properly. Even when the process required extra effort and quick adjustments, I stayed committed to my responsibilities and continued working with the team to finish the preparations till the end.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working in the decor team required strong collaboration. We had to divide responsibilities, share materials, and coordinate our work while setting up the decorations. By communicating and supporting each other, we were able to complete the preparations efficiently. This experience showed me that teamwork plays an important role in organizing successful events, as working together helps complete tasks more effectively.
