GARBA FEST – CREATIVITY

As part of my CAS Creativity experience, I participated in organizing and performing at our school’s Garba Fest, an event celebrating the Indian festival of Navratri through traditional dance, music, and cultural expression. My involvement included choreographing dance sequences, planning stage decorations, and helping coordinate costumes and performances. This experience allowed me to explore creativity through cultural artistry while developing collaboration, leadership, and planning skills. It also encouraged me to reflect on how artistic expression can foster community spirit and cultural appreciation within a school setting.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

In this experience, I took the initiative to plan and organize the Garba Fest. I helped create schedules, coordinate teams, and manage resources to ensure the event ran smoothly. This required careful planning, problem-solving, and decision-making, which helped me learn how to take responsibility and lead a project from start to finish.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

During this experience, I remained dedicated in completing all my responsibilities as a core coordinator. Despite challenges such as time constraints and managing multiple tasks, I stayed focused, followed through with my plans, and ensured that the event was successfully organized. This experience taught me the value of persistence and commitment in achieving a goal.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

During this experience, I worked closely with other coordinators, team members, and participants to ensure the Garba Fest ran smoothly. I learned the importance of listening, sharing ideas, and supporting others to achieve a common goal. Collaborating with others helped me understand how teamwork and cooperation make complex tasks more manageable and successful.

CONCLUSION

Participating in the Garba Fest was a meaningful and enriching CAS experience that helped me grow both creatively and personally. Through the process of choreographing, planning, and performing, I learned to collaborate effectively, manage time, and adapt to challenges. The experience strengthened my confidence in expressing ideas artistically while deepening my appreciation for Indian cultural traditions. Most importantly, it reminded me that creativity can serve as a bridge between culture and community—allowing individuals to celebrate diversity and unity through shared artistic expression.
