The Hindi Immersion Event organized by our school’s DP Hindi department was a memorable and enriching experience for me. The event was conducted on 10th September 2025 to celebrate the importance of Hindi language and culture, in recognition of Hindi Bhasha Divas which is celebrated in India every year on 14th September. The purpose of this event was to encourage students to appreciate the linguistic and cultural richness of Hindi through various creative performances such as poetry recitations, speeches, and dramatic presentations.
For this event, I participated in a poem recitation, which allowed me to express my understanding and appreciation of Hindi literature. Preparing for this performance was both exciting and challenging because it required creativity, confidence, and dedication. It also helped me develop important skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and time management. Overall, the experience gave me a deeper connection with the Hindi language and helped me fulfill several CAS learning outcomes.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Participating in the poem recitation presented several challenges that helped me develop new skills. One of the biggest challenges was balancing preparation for the event while also managing academic responsibilities and assessments. This required careful planning and prioritization so that I could dedicate enough time to both schoolwork and rehearsals.
Another challenge was working closely with a partner to coordinate our performance. We had to ensure that our delivery, tone, and timing matched perfectly so that the poem would sound engaging and meaningful. At times we had different ideas about how certain lines should be delivered, but through discussion and compromise we were able to find a solution that worked well for both of us.
Through this experience, I improved several important skills such as communication, collaboration, and stage presence. I also learned how to express emotions and meaning through voice modulation and body language, which made the performance more impactful for the audience.
Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Preparing for the Hindi Immersion event required strong commitment and perseverance. There were times when balancing schoolwork and practice sessions became stressful. Despite these challenges, I remained dedicated to the experience and continued to attend rehearsals and practice regularly.
There were also moments when I felt discouraged, particularly when I struggled with stage confidence or memorization. However, I reminded myself of the importance of completing what I had started and improving through practice.
Gradually, with consistent effort and support from my partner and teachers, I became more confident in my ability to perform. When the day of the event finally arrived, I felt proud of the effort I had put into preparing for the performance. Completing the poem recitation successfully was a rewarding experience that strengthened my determination and confidence.
Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Collaboration played an important role throughout this CAS experience. Working with my partner required constant communication, cooperation, and mutual support. We practiced together, shared ideas, and helped each other improve our delivery and expression.
During rehearsals, we also received feedback from teachers and classmates, which helped us refine our performance further. Listening to different perspectives allowed us to improve the quality of our presentation and make it more engaging for the audience.
This experience helped me understand that teamwork often leads to better outcomes than working alone. Supporting one another and respecting different ideas created a positive environment that made the entire preparation process more enjoyable and productive.
Conclusion
Overall, the Hindi Immersion Event 2025 was a meaningful and memorable CAS experience. It allowed me to explore the beauty and cultural significance of the Hindi language while developing important skills such as public speaking, collaboration, time management, and perseverance.
The event also helped me overcome some of my fears related to stage performance and encouraged me to participate in similar creative activities in the future. Most importantly, it deepened my appreciation for Hindi as an important part of India’s cultural identity and reminded me of the importance of preserving and celebrating our languages.
This experience will remain an important part of my CAS journey, as it helped me grow both personally and creatively.
