My 1 Million Founders Journey

Introduction:

I took part in an in-school entrepreneurial event called 1 Million Founders, which took place from July 28 to August 1, 2025, as part of my Creativity CAS program. Through this experience, I learned about the fundamental components of beginning a business, from recognizing real-world issues to creating answers through product design, marketing, and branding. Working cooperatively with colleagues, I contributed to the development of a thorough business plan that included the creation of an app prototype and a logo. This experience allowed me to apply theoretical classroom knowledge to real-world situations while also greatly improving my entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and teamwork abilities.

Learning Outcome 1 (LO1): Identify strengths and develop areas for growth:

I was able to identify my skills in original thought and idea production through this CAS experience, especially when coming up with unique business concepts. Simultaneously, I recognized areas that needed improvement, like enhancing my group discussion leadership and communication abilities. I learned how to listen, adjust, and improve my ideas based on feedback while also becoming more conscious of how I may contribute successfully through team-based problem-solving.

Learning Outcome 2 (LO2): Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken and new skills developed:

Developing a business concept from the ground up came with a number of difficulties. Converting abstract concepts into workable, practical solutions that could be put into action in a constrained amount of time was one of the main challenges. Compromise and flexibility were also necessary for team members to coordinate ideas. I gained new abilities from these tasks, including basic company planning, branding principles, prototype conceptualization, and problem-solving under pressure. Overcoming these challenges improved my confidence in taking on new challenges and bolstered my capacity to pick up new abilities both on my own and with others.

Learning Outcome 4 (LO4): Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experiences:

Ideation, planning, developing, and refining our business concept were all phases of this experience that required consistent effort. There were times when our original concepts needed to be significantly revised because of time constraints or practical issues. Rather than giving up, I continued to be dedicated to making our project better by actively contributing to conversations and offering other strategies. This perseverance made sure that our finished product was more polished and significant. I learned from the experience that persistence is crucial in both artistic and entrepreneurial endeavors, particularly when results are uncertain.

Learning Outcome 5 (LO5): Demonstrate skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:

One of the main themes of the 1 Million Founders event was collaboration. I was able to learn the importance of mutual respect, efficient communication, and shared accountability by working with a diverse group of peers. Our final business strategy was better since each team member contributed their own thoughts and strengths. I improved my capacity to listen intently, express ideas clearly, and adjust to various working styles through teamwork. This experience reaffirmed the notion that teamwork frequently results in more creative and comprehensive answers than solo effort.

Learning Outcome 6 (LO6): Engagement with issues of global significance:

The wider influence of entrepreneurship on social and economic growth was brought to light by this CAS experience. By focusing on sustainability, innovation, and ethical business practices, the event showed how entrepreneurial solutions can solve practical problems and advance society over the long run. A number of UN Sustainable Development Goals, such as Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Partnerships for the Goals, were well aligned with the experience. Knowing this relationship made it clear to me that, when created ethically, businesses can be effective instruments for bringing about meaningful world change.

Explanation of Learning and Impact:

Although this CAS experience was not directly service-based, it played an important role in showing how innovation and entrepreneurship can indirectly benefit communities. Learning how businesses identify needs, design solutions, and operate ethically allowed me to understand the social responsibility that accompanies economic growth. This experience bridged the gap between academic learning and real-world application, strengthening my critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills. It also encouraged me to view entrepreneurship as a meaningful way to address societal issues rather than solely as a profit-driven activity.

Conclusion:

To sum up, the 1 Million Founders CAS experience was transforming and enriching. It helped me develop important IB learner profile traits, especially Thinker, Communicator, and Risk-Taker, and enhanced my creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial mentality. Working cooperatively with colleagues and applying academic knowledge to real-world problems gave me important insights into how creative concepts may be developed into significant solutions. This experience has really aided in my academic and personal development and is in line with the IB CAS program’s goals.
