One day CAS trip to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls-Friday 25 July 2025

CAS Experience – Bhavar Kada Waterfalls Trip Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that obstacles have been overcome, with new skills learned along the way On 25 July 2025, Friday, I was on a day-long CAS trip to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls, and it was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had. It wasn’t all fun—rather, it was an adventure that taught me new things about myself and about people. The day began with a super fun bus ride. My friends and I were singing, joking, and playing games, and the bus was so lively that I completely forgot it was early morning. This trip helped me bond with classmates I don’t converse with often, something that made the experience more meaningful from the start. By the time we reached the trekking point to the waterfall, the real test began. The trek was very muddy, slippery, and uneven. One’s complete concentration was required in order not to slip—and yet I slipped a couple of times! Initially, I dismissed it, but the higher we ascended, it was very tiring and physically strenuous. I had to harness all my energy and concentration just to plod along. There were times when I was tempted to quit, but I kept reminding myself that obstacles are a learning curve, and I plodded along. Something I’m most proud of is the manner in which I acquired social skills on this trek.

I didn’t just think of myself—I went out of my way to help others who were struggling, offering a hand, a word of encouragement, or walking with them so they would not be alone. And others helped me when I was struggling as well. All of this cooperation and helping one another made me realize how much good and kind it is to be, especially during difficult times. I learned how to be a better communicator and how little things can make a big difference.

Finally, when we got to the waterfall, all the effort and struggle felt accomplished. The view was incredible—green everywhere, the sound of the water coming down, and the fresh, cool breeze. The best part was standing in the waterfall—although the water was extremely freezing cold, after such a long, sweaty walk, nothing felt better. That was just the perfect reward for everything I had put forth.

This experience relates well to CAS Learning Outcome 2. I had the experience of a challenge, while I was also developing many new skills: physical endurance, resilience, social communication, and teamwork. I now feel more confident in the fact that I can face a difficult situation, while also helping others do so depending on their needs. I also learned that the best memories/moments happen when you embrace the uncomfortable and challenge each other.

Overall, this trip was not just enjoyable—it was meaningful, and it helped me grow in ways that I did not expect.
