One Day CAS Trip

Our one-day trek to the waterfall turned out to be far more meaningful than I expected. What began as a simple outdoor adventure quickly became an experience full of challenge, learning, and collaboration. The forest trail, surrounded by tall trees, damp soil, and scattered rocks, was both beautiful and demanding. As we moved deeper into the path, I became more aware of my physical limits, the environment around me, and the importance of staying connected with my peers. By the end of the trek, reaching the waterfall felt like a moment of shared accomplishment, made richer by everything we had worked through together.

LO2- One of the most important aspects of this experience was facing the physical and mental challenges of trekking on uneven, slippery terrain. The steep inclines, wet leaves, and unstable rocks made the journey demanding, and there were moments when I felt tired or unsure, especially on narrow paths near small streams. Instead of slowing down, I pushed myself to keep moving steadily, focusing on my breathing and balance. I developed practical skills like improved coordination and weight distribution while climbing, and mental skills such as perseverance, patience, and self-motivation.
By the time we reached the end, I could clearly see my growth. I had learned to stay calm, manage my energy, and navigate unfamiliar terrain with greater confidence. This experience allowed me to fully demonstrate Learning Outcome 2 by undertaking real challenges and developing new skills through practice and reflection.

LO5- Teamwork played a major role throughout the trek, making the journey safer and more enjoyable for everyone. We constantly communicated—pointing out slippery areas, guiding each other through tricky sections, and checking in to ensure everyone was comfortable. When a few classmates began to feel tired on a steep stretch, several of us walked with them, shared water and snacks, and offered encouragement so no one felt left behind.
These small acts of support showed me that collaboration isn’t only about sharing physical tasks—it is also about empathy, patience, and responsibility for the group’s wellbeing. Working together strengthened our group dynamic and made the trek feel more manageable and meaningful. This experience clearly reflects Learning Outcome 5, as I was able to demonstrate effective teamwork and understand its real benefits.

Reaching the waterfall felt incredibly rewarding. The sound of rushing water and the sight of the sparkling pool made every challenge worth it. As we rested and appreciated the moment together, I realized how much this trek had contributed to my CAS growth. It taught me resilience, teamwork, and self-awareness—skills I will carry with me long after the experience.
