Rock climbing – Activity

I participated in rock climbing as a physical and mental challenge that required strength, focus, planning, and perseverance. The activity involved setting goals, overcoming fear, and improving technique through consistent practice. Rock climbing helped me develop both physical endurance and mental resilience.

LO 1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through rock climbing, I identified strengths such as determination, focus, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. I also recognized areas for growth, particularly improving grip strength, flexibility, and confidence when attempting more difficult routes.

LO 2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Rock climbing pushed me beyond my comfort zone, especially when attempting higher or more complex climbs. Each challenge required learning new techniques such as proper foot placement, balance, and route planning. Over time, I developed better problem solving skills and physical coordination.

LO 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I planned this activity by setting personal goals for each session, choosing appropriate difficulty levels, and tracking my progress over time. I also ensured safety by learning correct climbing techniques and following guidelines, which shows structured planning and responsibility.

LO 4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Progress in rock climbing required consistency and patience. There were times when I failed to complete a route, but I continued practicing until I improved. This demonstrated perseverance and commitment, as I did not give up when faced with difficulty.

LO 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Rock climbing often involved working with others, such as belayers and instructors. Trust and clear communication were essential for safety and success. This helped me understand the importance of teamwork, mutual responsibility, and effective communication.

LO 6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Rock climbing promotes physical fitness, mental health, and outdoor sports culture, which are important global concerns in today’s increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Engaging in such activities supports overall well being and encourages healthy habits.

LO 7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Safety and responsibility were crucial throughout this activity. I learned to respect safety rules, look out for others, and act responsibly to prevent injury. This experience reinforced the importance of ethical decision making in both individual and group settings.
