On July 25, 2025, I went on an interesting journey to Bhavar Kada Waterfall as part of my CAS Activity strand. What started out as an early-morning walk quickly evolved into a strenuous but incredibly fulfilling adventure. I was forced to step outside of my comfort zone while trekking through mud, rain, and slick trails, which improved my perseverance, teamwork, and appreciation of the natural world. In addition to being physically demanding, this trip inspired me to consider my own development and environmental responsibility. The walk began early in the morning and was made more difficult by the erratic weather. It took constant concentration and physical effort to navigate the muddy pathways and slippery rocks. The group encouraged one another to persevere despite moments of exhaustion and reluctance. Every effort was worthwhile when we reached the waterfall, which seemed like a group accomplishment. I was reminded of the strength and tranquility of nature by being surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty, which was both revitalising and humble.
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth: I was able to identify my strengths in toughness and mental toughness because to this experience. I maintained my will and concentration even when the walk got challenging. But I also came to the realization that I need to increase my physical stamina and self-assurance when negotiating hazardous situations, which I plan to do by engaging in regular exercise.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills: Heavy weather, slick roads, and physical tiredness were just a few of the difficulties encountered during the walk. I was able to improve my balance, endurance, and risk-assessment abilities by overcoming these challenges. Additionally, I learnt how to maintain composure under physically taxing circumstances.
LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: A key factor in the trek’s success was teamwork. By providing advice, pooling resources, and making sure everyone was safe, we helped one another. This experience reaffirmed how communication and teamwork make difficult tasks easier to do and more pleasurable.
LO 6: Engagement with issues of global significance: The significance of environmental conservation was brought to light by being fully submerged in a natural setting. I became more conscious of global issues like climate change, deforestation, and the effects of human activity on natural ecosystems after seeing the immaculate beauty of Bhavar Kada Waterfall. My obligation to cherish and preserve the environment via sustainable methods has been reinforced by this experience.
The Bhavar Kada Waterfall walk was a journey of self-discovery, teamwork, and environmental awareness rather than only a physical activity. It forced me to stretch myself, value teamwork, and consider my part in protecting the environment. This CAS Activity experience has had a long-lasting effect on my perspective, inspiring me to continue being active, collaborate with others, and become more aware of environmental challenges throughout the world.
