CAS Strand– Activity
Sustainability Goal– Good Health and Well-being
Running has always been a test of both body and mind, and this cross-country experience proved exactly that. Over the span of a week, I ran two 3 km routes and one 5 km route. At first, the 3 km runs felt manageable, but when I reached the 5 km mark, the real challenge began. Each step pushed me further outside my comfort zone.
LO1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I realized that one of my strengths is determination , once I decide to start a run, I don’t like to stop halfway. At the same time, I recognized areas for growth in pacing myself better and improving my breathing technique. These are skills I can build with consistent training.
LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Running 5 km was not easy. There were moments when my legs felt heavy, and I wanted to quit. But I kept going, step by step, until I crossed the finish line. Through this, I developed patience, stamina, and mental resilience. I also learned how to better manage energy over a longer distance.
LO4- Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences
The hardest part of cross-country running is not starting, it’s finishing. When fatigue hit, my mind tried to convince me to stop. But I reminded myself of my goal, stayed disciplined, and persevered until the end. This commitment gave me a sense of pride that no shortcut could replace.
LO7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Cross-country running taught me the importance of fairness and integrity, both toward myself and others. I made sure to respect the rules of the course, never cutting corners or seeking unfair advantages. Even when it was challenging, I stayed committed to finishing the race honestly, upholding both my personal standards and the spirit of sportsmanship. This experience reminded me that true achievement comes not just from reaching the finish line, but from doing so with fairness, respect, and perseverance.
This CAS experience was more than just running, it was about discipline, self-control, and pushing beyond mental limits. Every kilometer taught me something new about myself. I now see running not just as a physical activity, but as a way to strengthen character.
