Spark Tank CAS (Creativity)

As part of my CAS Creativity experience, I participated in the BM Spark Tank on 22nd January, where I pitched my business idea called RePure, a portable water filter bottle. The idea behind RePure is simple: to provide clean drinking water in a reusable bottle so people don’t have to depend on plastic bottles everywhere. I wanted to create something practical, affordable, and environmentally responsible.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

During the presentation, I realized that one of my strengths is explaining ideas clearly, especially when I understand the product deeply. Since I had researched how filtration works and how the bottle would be produced, I felt confident while presenting the features and benefits of my idea.

However, I also noticed that I get slightly nervous when unexpected questions are asked. Sometimes I tend to speak faster under pressure. This helped me understand that as an entrepreneur, confidence is important, but staying calm and answering clearly is even more important. This experience helped me identify an area where I can improve by practicing better control and confidence while responding to questions.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experiences

After presenting my idea, I received feedback from my teacher about improving my slides and making some explanations clearer. Instead of ignoring the feedback, I worked on improving my presentation by refining the slides, adding clearer explanations, and practicing multiple times.

This process required commitment and perseverance because it took time and effort to revise my work. However, making these improvements helped me feel more prepared and confident about presenting my idea.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

During the Spark Tank experience, I also interacted with my teacher and classmates who gave suggestions and feedback on my idea. Listening to their perspectives helped me understand how my product could be improved and how to present it more effectively.

Working with others and accepting feedback allowed me to refine my idea and improve my presentation. This showed me the importance of collaboration and how different viewpoints can help make an idea stronger.

Reflection

This experience taught me that solving real-world problems like water safety and plastic waste requires more than just a good idea. It also requires preparation, perseverance, and the ability to communicate your ideas clearly.

Participating in the Spark Tank helped me grow not only as a student but also as a young entrepreneur. It made me realize that building something meaningful requires creativity, commitment, and the confidence to present your ideas in front of others.
