Type of CAS: Activity
Location: Bhavar Kada Waterfalls, Dang
The trek to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls was one of the most adventurous experiences I have participated in. On July 25, 2025, our school organized this trekking trip as part of the CAS program. It was my first trekking experience, and it gave me the opportunity to challenge myself physically and mentally while exploring nature with my classmates. The journey involved walking through muddy trails, crossing small streams, and climbing steep paths, which made the trek both exciting and demanding.
Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Before the trek, I believed I would be able to complete it easily because I considered myself fairly fit. However, the steep slopes and slippery terrain made me realize that trekking requires more stamina, balance, and endurance than I expected. There were moments when I felt tired and struggled to maintain stability on the muddy paths.
Despite these difficulties, I stayed focused and continued moving forward. I realized that one of my strengths is my determination and ability to remain positive in challenging situations. At the same time, the experience showed me that I need to improve my physical endurance and strength so that I can handle similar challenges more confidently in the future.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The trek itself was a major challenge because of the uneven and slippery terrain, especially due to the rainy weather. Throughout the journey, I had to carefully watch my steps and sometimes use rocks, tree branches, or ropes for support.
Through this experience, I developed new skills such as maintaining balance on uneven surfaces, moving carefully on steep slopes, and adapting to changing conditions during the trek. I also learned the importance of patience and resilience while facing physical challenges.
Learning Outcome 4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experiences
Completing the trek required a lot of perseverance and commitment. When we reached the waterfall, we took a short break before beginning the return journey. At that point, I felt tired and realized that we still had a long walk back to the base village.
Even though I felt exhausted, I stayed committed to finishing the trek. By focusing on the goal and encouraging myself to keep moving, I was able to complete the journey successfully. Reaching the end of the trek made me feel proud because it showed that determination and perseverance can help overcome difficult situations.
Conclusion
Overall, the trek to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls was a memorable CAS experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone. It helped me discover my strengths, recognize areas for improvement, and develop new skills while facing a physical challenge. Most importantly, it taught me the value of perseverance and staying committed even when things become difficult.
