Donate Organ Awareness

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
One of the main challenges I faced during this campaign was maintaining consistency and quality while creating and sharing social media posters over 2 months and 10 days. Initially, I found it difficult to simplify complex medical information about organ donation into content that was both accurate and engaging. Additionally, ensuring that each post was visually appealing and informative required continuous effort. Over time, I developed stronger skills in research, digital design, and audience-focused communication. This experience also improved my ability to critically evaluate information before sharing it, making me more responsible and effective in spreading awareness.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
This experience was entirely self-initiated, as I identified a lack of awareness and misconceptions surrounding organ donation. I planned the campaign by setting a clear objective—to educate and encourage people to consider organ donation—and structured it by creating a consistent posting schedule. I categorized my content into themes such as facts, myths, and benefits to ensure clarity and variety. Through this process, I realized that effective planning is not just about starting an activity, but also about sustaining it with clear goals, organization, and adaptability. This experience strengthened my ability to independently manage and execute a meaningful project.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Although the campaign was led by me, collaboration played an important role in enhancing its impact. I shared my posters with peers and received feedback on how to improve clarity, design, and engagement. I also encouraged others to repost and spread the message, which increased the reach of my campaign. This showed me that collaboration does not always require a formal team structure; even small contributions from others can significantly amplify the effectiveness of a project. I learned that being open to feedback and involving others leads to better outcomes and a more meaningful collective effort.

LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Organ donation is a critical global issue, as there is a persistent shortage of donors compared to the number of patients requiring transplants worldwide. Through this campaign, I actively engaged with this issue by educating people and attempting to reduce misinformation. This experience helped me understand that global problems often require awareness at a local level to create change. It also made me more conscious of my role as an individual in contributing to global health issues, reinforcing the idea that even small actions, such as spreading awareness, can have a wider impact.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Addressing organ donation required careful consideration of ethical responsibilities, as it is a sensitive and personal topic. I ensured that all the information I shared was accurate, respectful, and did not pressure individuals into making decisions. I was mindful of different cultural beliefs and personal values related to organ donation, and I focused on encouraging informed choices rather than persuasion. This experience deepened my understanding of ethical communication and the importance of integrity when dealing with real-world issues. It taught me that awareness campaigns must balance impact with respect for individual perspectives.
