YUVAMUN 1.0 – Creativity

On the 27th, 28th, and 29th of June 2025, I served as the Deputy Director General (DDG) for YUVAMUN 1.0 . As a part of the Secretariat, I had been working consistently for over two months prior to the event to ensure the smooth and professional execution of the conference. My responsibilities were extensive — from approaching brands for sponsorships and conducting delegate orientations to coordinating with the host school administration, food distributors, delegate-kit suppliers, faculty members, and the Executive Board (EB) of all committees. During the event days, I supervised committee operations, assisted the Secretariat in managing crises or delays, and ensured seamless communication between EBs, logistics teams, and delegates. Throughout this experience, I could find myself working on three particular learning outcomes, as mentioned below.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Serving as DDG helped me recognize my strengths in communication, leadership, and structured coordination. I realized that I could manage multiple teams effectively and maintain professionalism in high-pressure scenarios. At the same time, I also identified areas for growth — especially time-management and handling unexpected challenges calmly. This experience encouraged me to build emotional resilience, efficiency, and more confidence in delegation.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
The two months of preparation taught me how to plan systematically for a large-scale event. From preparing outreach materials and sponsorship decks to coordinating orientation schedules and aligning EBs with conference expectations, I had to initiate several processes independently. This strengthened my ability to plan long-term projects, break tasks into structured phases, and anticipate logistical and communication needs. I learned how strategy, planning, and consistent follow-up shape the foundation of successful execution.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
YUVAMUN relied heavily on collaboration. I worked closely with the Secretariat, EBs, host school administration, faculty members, vendors, and support teams. Managing communication between these groups required teamwork, adaptability, and patience. On the event days, this teamwork became even more essential as we addressed last-minute challenges, adjusted committee timings, and resolved technical or logistical issues. Through this, I experienced firsthand how collective effort strengthens problem-solving and ensures smooth execution.

LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
As DDG, I had to represent the Secretariat in all communication — whether with sponsors, EBs, or schools. This required ensuring transparency, fairness, and professionalism in every decision. From handling delegate concerns to ensuring EBs received equal support and recognition, I had to consider the ethical implications of my actions. I learned the importance of integrity, accountability, and maintaining respectful communication in leadership roles.

The leadership, collaboration, and ethical responsibility I demonstrated helped me build the learner profiles of Communicator, Principled, Balanced, and Reflective. In conclusion, serving as the Deputy Director General for YUVAMUN was a transformative experience that strengthened my strategic planning, interpersonal skills, and ability to lead with integrity.
