BasketBall Club CAS(Activity)

As part of my CAS Activity strand, I joined the basketball club at my school to improve my physical fitness and step outside my academic comfort zone. This experience helped me identify my strengths and areas for growth (LO1). While I was comfortable with basic fitness, I realized that my stamina, agility, and defensive positioning needed improvement. Recognizing these weaknesses motivated me to train more consistently and set personal goals for improvement.

Joining the club also meant undertaking a new challenge (LO2), as I had never played basketball in a competitive and structured environment before. Adjusting to the fast pace of the game and understanding tactical plays required both physical and mental effort. Learning new drills and strategies pushed me to adapt quickly and think strategically during matches.

There were moments when practices felt physically exhausting, especially during continuous drills and scrimmages. However, by attending every session and pushing through fatigue, I demonstrated perseverance and commitment (LO4). Over time, I noticed significant improvement in my endurance, ball control, and confidence on the court.

Since basketball is highly dependent on teamwork, I also developed collaboration skills. Communicating effectively, supporting teammates, and understanding my specific role in the team helped me recognize the value of working collaboratively (LO5). I learned that success is not based on individual performance alone, but on collective effort and trust.

Overall, this CAS experience contributed greatly to my personal growth. It strengthened my discipline, resilience, teamwork, and confidence, while encouraging me to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle in alignment with the aims of the CAS programme.
