A Day Hike to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls, Dang
by Manit Bhasin – August 8, 2025
On July 25th, 2025, I took part in a one-day trekking expedition to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls in the lush Dang region. The adventure involved a demanding four-hour trek, navigating steep descents and muddy trails that tested not only our physical capabilities but also our teamwork and planning.
Learning Outcome 1: Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
The trek provided a valuable opportunity for self-assessment. While maneuvering through slippery slopes and uneven ground, I noticed my strength in staying mentally composed under pressure. I was also able to uplift others, offering encouragement and practical help where needed, especially during more difficult portions of the trail.
At the same time, the physical strain of the trek revealed areas I need to improve—especially my endurance and leg strength. I realized that consistent physical training is essential, and I plan to incorporate cardio and strength exercises into my regular routine to build stamina.
Learning Outcome 2: Taking on Challenges and Gaining New Skills
This hike pushed me beyond my comfort zone. The terrain constantly shifted, forcing me to quickly learn basic trekking techniques—judging where to step, how to maintain balance, and how to use natural supports like tree roots and rocks.
Beyond physical skills, I developed soft skills such as adaptability, teamwork, and resilience. I fell a couple of times, got tired, and faced discomfort—but never gave up. That persistence made reaching the waterfall even more fulfilling.
Learning Outcome 3: Initiating and Planning a CAS Experience
This wasn’t a spontaneous outing—it required detailed planning. From organizing transportation and timing to packing the right gear and coordinating group safety, this experience taught me the importance of preparation. We anticipated possible weather issues, trail conditions, and emergency needs, which allowed us to respond effectively during the trek. It showed me how thorough planning contributes to the success and safety of an activity.
Learning Outcome 4: Showing Commitment and Perseverance
Despite the physical difficulty, I stayed fully committed to the trek from beginning to end. Even when energy levels dropped and conditions got harder, I focused on the goal. My persistence—through fatigue, discomfort, and minor setbacks—was key to completing the experience successfully.
Learning Outcome 5: Working Collaboratively
Teamwork was central to this journey. Throughout the trek, we supported each other—whether it was helping someone balance, sharing water, or setting the pace together. This experience emphasized how group effort often makes difficult tasks more manageable and enjoyable. It also helped build stronger bonds among us, as we relied on and trusted each other.
This trek wasn’t just an outdoor activity—it was a multi-faceted learning experience that helped me grow physically, emotionally, and socially. It reminded me that real development happens when we push through discomfort, support others, and reflect on our actions. The trail to Bhavar Kada wasn’t just a path through the forest—it was a path to personal growth.
