Divyangg Bake Sale – 16th March 2026 – Service

This CAS experience involved organizing and contributing to a bake sale aimed at raising funds for charity. As part of the initiative, I prepared 100 chocolate chip cookies and 50 brownie cups, which were sold during the event. The profits generated from the bake sale were intended to support a meaningful cause, making this both a creative and service-oriented experience.

Learning Outcome 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

For this bake sale, I played an active role in both initiating and planning my contribution. I began by deciding the items I would prepare—chocolate chip cookies and brownie cups—based on what would be appealing, easy to serve, and suitable for a school environment. I carefully estimated quantities (100 cookies and 50 brownie cups) to ensure there was enough supply to meet demand without excessive wastage.

The preparation process required detailed planning, including organizing ingredients in advance, allocating sufficient time for baking, and ensuring consistency in taste and presentation. I also had to manage my schedule effectively to balance academic responsibilities alongside preparation for the bake sale. Additionally, I considered factors such as packaging, portion sizes, and ease of selling, which are all essential elements of executing a successful sale.

Through this process, I developed a deeper understanding of how planning, organization, and foresight directly impact the success of an initiative. It highlighted the importance of being proactive and detail-oriented when initiating a CAS experience.

Learning Outcome 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

This bake sale was connected to the broader global issue of inclusivity and support for marginalized communities, particularly individuals who are differently-abled (Divyangg). By contributing to a fundraiser aimed at supporting such individuals, I engaged with the idea that social inequalities exist worldwide and that collective efforts are necessary to address them.

This experience helped me recognize that even small-scale initiatives, such as a school bake sale, can contribute to larger global efforts of promoting equality, dignity, and access to resources. It also deepened my awareness of the challenges faced by differently-abled individuals, encouraging me to think more empathetically and responsibly about my role in society.

Learning Outcome 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Throughout this experience, I considered the ethical responsibility of contributing meaningfully to a charitable cause. I ensured that the food items prepared were of good quality and safe for consumption, recognizing the importance of honesty and accountability when selling products. Additionally, being part of a fundraiser made me reflect on the ethical impact of my actions, as the proceeds were intended to benefit others. This reinforced the importance of acting with integrity and purpose when engaging in service activities.

Overall, this experience allowed me to combine creativity with service while developing planning skills and a deeper sense of social responsibility. It highlighted how individual efforts can contribute to a collective impact, making it a meaningful and rewarding CAS experience.
