Garba Fest – Activity

My CAS experience involved participating in the school’s Garba Fest, where I actively took part in a traditional group dance performance. The event celebrated cultural heritage and brought students together through music and collective participation. Preparing for the performance required practice, coordinating with peers and maintaining energy and enthusiasm throughout. This experience allowed me to express myself creatively while strengthening my teamwork and confidence.

LO 1: Identify Own Strengths & Develop Areas for Growth

Through this experience, I identified confidence as one of my strengths. I was comfortable participating in front of a large group of students and enjoyed being part of a collective performance, even though I was hesitant in the start. I realized that I am able to adapt quickly to group settings and follow coordination cues effectively. However, I also noticed that I tend to stay within my comfort zone during such events. While I participated actively, I did not take initiative in leading or encouraging others. This made me reflect on the importance of stepping beyond participation and developing leadership qualities even in informal settings. Recognizing this area for growth has encouraged me to be more proactive in future group activities.

LO 2: Undertake Challenges & Develop New Skills

Even though Garba Fest was a celebratory event, participating still required stepping out of my comfort zone. Dancing in a large group setting in front of peers can feel intimidating, especially when maintaining rhythm and coordination. By fully engaging in the event, I developed greater self-confidence and improved my ability to participate spontaneously in group activities. I learned to be more expressive and less self-conscious, which is an important skill in both social and academic environments.

LO 5: Demonstrate the Skills and Recognize the Benefits of Working Collaboratively

Garba is usually a group activity where coordination and collective energy create the overall flow. I observed that when everyone participated enthusiastically, the event felt more lively and enjoyable. Even as an individual participant, my involvement contributed to the collective spirit of the celebration. This experience reinforced that collaboration is not always about formal teamwork, rather sometimes it is about shared participation and mutual energy. Being part of a unified group enhanced the overall experience and strengthened my sense of belonging within the school community.
