As part of my CAS service experience, I participated in a medical camp in Dang from 23rd August 2025 to 24th August 2025, aimed at supporting rural communities with basic healthcare services. This experience provided me with an opportunity to engage directly with individuals who have limited access to medical facilities, while also contributing in a meaningful way. It allowed me to develop empathy, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of healthcare challenges, making it both a valuable and impactful experience.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
During the medical camp in Dang, I faced several new challenges that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Working in a real-life healthcare environment and interacting with patients from rural communities required me to adapt quickly and take on responsibilities I was not previously familiar with. Through this experience, I developed new skills such as effective communication, basic organizational abilities, and the confidence to assist in tasks like guiding patients and supporting the smooth functioning of the camp. I also learned how to remain calm and responsible while working in a busy and demanding setting. Overall, this experience helped me grow by building practical skills and increasing my ability to handle unfamiliar and challenging situations.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

During the healthcare camp in Dang, I showed perseverance and commitment by actively participating throughout the entire duration, despite physical fatigue and challenging conditions. Working in a rural area with limited resources required patience and adaptability. I consistently assisted in organizing patients, supporting the medical team, and ensuring smooth operations. Even when the workload increased, I remained focused and responsible. This experience strengthened my dedication to service and taught me the importance of staying committed while helping communities in need.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

During the medical camp in Dang, I worked closely with my peers, volunteers, and healthcare professionals, which highlighted the importance of collaboration. Each person had a specific role, and effective teamwork was essential to ensure the camp functioned smoothly. By working together, we were able to handle challenges more effectively and provide better support to the community. This experience helped me improve my teamwork and communication skills, and showed me how collaboration can lead to more organized and impactful outcomes.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance

During the medical camp in Dang, I engaged with important global issues related to healthcare access and inequality. I observed that many people in rural communities have limited access to basic medical facilities, awareness, and preventive care. This experience helped me understand that such challenges are not only local but exist worldwide, especially in developing regions. It increased my awareness of the importance of accessible healthcare and the need for initiatives that support community well-being. Through this experience, I developed a deeper sense of responsibility and a better understanding of how small contributions can help address larger global issues.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

During the medical camp in Dang, I became more aware of the importance of acting ethically in a healthcare setting. While assisting patients, it was essential to treat everyone with respect, maintain confidentiality, and ensure that my actions were responsible and appropriate. I understood that even small actions, such as how I communicate or handle sensitive situations, can impact others. This experience taught me to be more mindful of my behavior and decisions, especially when working with vulnerable communities. Overall, I learned that ethical responsibility is crucial in service experiences, and it helped me develop a stronger sense of integrity and accountability.
