Kalakriti was a interschool event where school students competed amongst several creative categories such as painting, street play, mime, instruments and much more. For this CAS, I demonstrated creativity by writing a hosting script for the street play category, and hosting on the final day of the event.
LOI 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through this experience, I undiscovered my string sense f creativity for writing scripts and a sense of confidence when speaking in front of an audience. Writing the script helped me in understanding my ability to express ideas clearly while collaring with my peer to curate and host the script on the final day. However, I also realized that I need to improve my stress handling skills since, during the time frame of the event, there were too many cases in terms of school assignments, extra classes and much more as balancing these tasks was challenging.
LOI 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
This was first time writing a script for such a large scale event, which pushed me outside my comfort zone. Although co-hosing with an another partner made it much more easier and smoother. Due to this, I had to practice my speaking style, develop confidence, and also handle last minute changes during the event. These challenge helped improve my communication skills, develop newer confidence and also gain exposure to such events and people.
LOI 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
With multiple assignments and deadlines to be met, making an effective and quality script seemed rather difficult at the time. Even when things got stressful and the detainees too tight, I held on to the task of curating a quality script for the final day. From first drafts to rewriting and the final scripts, the stress was always there. However, as my co-host and me got closer to creating a more qualitative script, things seemed to get much better. On the final day I ensure to stay focused and calm despite technical delays, and showing persevered until the very end of the event.
LOI 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Hosing with my peer required collaboration. From managing our personal tight schedules and finding gps in order to work for the script seemed stressful. We consistently tried to find timing where we could work together, and on other times we tried to work on different timing and divide tasks in order to complete script with quality and the given time frame. Over the course of this event, I learned how important collaboration and teamwork is and how helpful it can be for such clashing events and tight deadlines.
